Consultant Counselling Psychologist
Sharon Gardner is a Chartered Consultant Counselling Psychologist experienced in working with adults of all ages. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology with the Open University at Milton Keynes. She then completed an MSc in Health Psychology at Bristol University and went on to complete an MSc. In Counselling psychology and a Post MSc Diploma in Counselling Psychology at City University in London. Sharon Gardner became an Associate Fellow with the British Psychological Society in 2011.
Sharon Gardner has over seventeen years of post-graduate experience working within the NHS, private practice and seven years within MOD mental health. She has experience of working with people experiencing a variety of mental health problems including, PTSD, PTS, anxiety, stress, OCD, phobias, depression, childhood sexual abuse, and relationship problems.
Sharon has a particular interest in trauma and PTSD, has three related publications and has presented in both Berlin and Stockholm at the European Society for Traumatic Stress conference.
Sharon Gardner integrates a number of models of treatment including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), psychodynamic, Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy approaches to patient needs, and NICE guideline recommendations. She is also fully qualified in EMDR. She believes in working collaboratively with individuals to reflect and enable them to find solutions to, or acceptable management of, their difficulties.
