Alana Vining first began her training with a BSc in Psychology at the University of Queensland, graduating with First Class Honours (1st), before going on to complete a Master of Clinical Psychology at the Queensland University of Technology. Her path has taken her through drug and alcohol support services, community mental health, academic health services, private clinical psychology, and inpatient mental health, where she has supported adults and young people (ages 14+), and into attachment issues, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, psychosexual issues, and trauma re-processing, which has shaped the way she now works with clients.Â
In the therapy room, Ms Vining brings an integrative approach, drawing flexibly on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and trauma-focused approaches to tailor treatment to each individual’s needs. Her work has a strong relational and attachment focus, emphasising helping clients deeply understand themselves and make sense of their patterns in a meaningful way. She aims to create a warm therapeutic space where clients can show up authentically as themselves. Overall, she strives for therapy that recognises both suffering and strengths to support lasting and meaningful change, always incorporating humour and lightness when appropriate.
All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.
Ms Vining works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, complex enduring difficulties, ADHD, ASD, interpersonal challenges, emotional dysregulation, and psychosis, and has specialist experience in trauma, attachment issues, interpersonal difficulties, self-esteem difficulties, women’s issues, and psychosexual issues. Whatever someone is struggling with, Ms Vining aims to offer support that recognises and respects their unique needs and experiences.
Alongside her therapy work, Ms Vining is also involved in NHS adult inpatient services for people with severe and enduring mental illness, reflecting her passion for supporting individuals through complex mental health challenges.
