Anastasia Sgoumpopoulou graduated with an undergraduate degree in Psychology from University College London (UCL) and furthered her studies with a Master of Science in Mental Health Studies from King’s College London, achieving first-class honours. She then, contributed to the NHS and various third-sector charities, before embarking on a professional doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of East London.
During her professional training, Dr Sgoumpopoulou gained experience in supporting a diverse clientele, addressing a wide range of complex emotional needs across both primary and secondary care settings within the NHS. She is particularly keen on supporting individuals grappling with substance misuse issues, trauma, attachment difficulties, grief/loss, emotional dysregulation, anxiety disorders, and depression. Her expertise extends to addiction specialization and providing support within a maternity trauma service, assisting women affected by pregnancy-related loss and trauma.
Dr Sgoumpopoulou’s approach is highly individualized; she is committed to meeting clients where they are, tuning into their unique concerns, and tailoring sessions to align with their personal goals and motivations. Her therapeutic toolkit is versatile, incorporating psychological approaches such as Psychodynamic, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-focused approaches, and Gestalt.
