Dr Aishwarya Sambath is a principal counselling psychologist. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Leicester followed by her post-graduate qualification in Counselling Psychology. She was awarded the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City, University of London. Dr Sambath has worked for several years as a senior psychologist in secondary care community mental health services and specialist personality disorder services for adults with moderate to severe and enduring mental health struggles. She has also worked in health psychology as well as primary care services (IAPT) and private practice.
Dr Sambath also regularly guest lectures on the Doctoral Clinical Psychology course for two universities and assists with clinical interviews helping to source future psychologists. Her academic interests and supervisory consultancy roles help her to maintain up to date knowledge of current evidenced-base clinical practice and psychological research.
Dr Sambath has expertise in delivering specialist evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye-Movement-Desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving (STEPPS) for Emotional Intensity Disorders and is in Schema Therapy Training.
Dr Aishwarya Sambath has considerable experience and skills gained through her work with a wide range of complex psychological and emotional difficulties such as depression, anxiety, and personality disorders; relational issues, work stress and career related issues; phobias and OCD; and PTSD/ trauma and abuse.
