Dr Alexandra El Badaoui first began her training with a BA in Psychology at the American University of Beirut, before going on to complete an MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences at UCL, graduating with Distinction. She then completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) at the University of Oxford.
Her clinical experience spans a range of settings, including NHS and private services in England, as well as cross-cultural work within mental health services in Lebanon. She has supported children, young people, and adults, which has shaped the integrative and flexible way she now works with clients.
In the therapy room, Dr El Badaoui brings a warm, relational, and collaborative approach. She draws on training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), trauma-informed approaches, and Systemic Family Therapy. Most importantly, she adapts and integrates these approaches to suit the individual, tailoring therapy to each person’s needs.
Her work is grounded in creating a compassionate and safe space, with a strong emphasis on building a genuine therapeutic relationship. Coming from a multicultural Lebanese–British background, she is attentive to cultural context and brings this awareness into her practice where relevant.
All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.
Dr El Badaoui works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, OCD, trauma, self-criticism, emotional dysregulation, and interpersonal difficulties. Whatever someone is struggling with, she aims to offer support that recognises and respects their unique needs and experiences.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr El Badaoui is involved in research and teaching, reflecting her ongoing commitment to learning and evidence-based practice.
