Dr André Lynam-Smith first began his training with a BSc in Psychology at the University of Auckland, where he also worked in neurological rehabilitation, before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health and an MHSc. He went on to complete his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) at Royal Holloway, University of London. His path has taken him through mental health services where he has supported adults experiencing a wide range of psychological, emotional, and physical-health-related difficulties.
In the therapy room, Dr Lynam-Smith brings a thoughtful, structured, and evidence-based approach. He draws on training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), including advanced postgraduate training in CBT from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. His work is grounded in collaboratively helping clients understand the psychological processes maintaining their difficulties and supporting them to make meaningful, lasting change.

They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.
Dr Lynam-Smith works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), chronic pain, health-related anxiety, and adjustment to long-term physical health conditions. He has specialist expertise in chronic pain, OCD, and PTSD, bringing a depth of clinical experience to clients navigating these conditions.
Alongside his therapeutic work, Dr Lynam-Smith has taught on doctoral psychology programmes at Royal Hollowayand UEL, reflecting his passion for developing future clinicians and advancing high-quality psychological practice.
