Dr Ankush Sharma is a consultant psychiatrist with over 18 years’ experience in mental health and over 5 years at the consultant level. Following his qualification as a doctor in 2002, he worked within various NHS trusts across the UK in Psychiatry before taking up his basic specialist training at the Charing Cross Scheme, London. He gained valuable experience in various subspecialties in Psychiatry which helped him obtain membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrist and qualify as a psychiatrist. He further got his higher training as a specialist in General Adult Psychiatry again through Charing Cross Scheme London and attained his CCT in 2018. During his training days, Dr Sharma developed a keen interest in exploring various neurotic and psychotic presentations prevalent within London’s multicultural and diverse population.
Having worked in a busy NHS inpatient unit and now currently in the community, Dr Sharma has extensive experience, skill and knowledge in treating complex mental health presentations such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder alongside more common neurotic illnesses such as depression, anxiety, phobias, PTSD as well as personality disorders.
Dr Sharma is also very passionate about teaching medical students and is actively involved in teaching medical students at Brighton & Sussex Medical School during their inpatient and community placements. He has been actively involved in training psychiatrists and has regularly presented at academic meetings. He has also actively participated in various QI and research projects which have been subsequently published.
Dr Sharma is fluent in and can assess clients through English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Marathi, Assamese and can understand Gujrati and Punjabi.
