Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Ankush Sharma is a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience. After qualifying as a doctor, completed his basic specialist training at the Charing Cross Scheme, London, followed by higher training in General Adult Psychiatry through the same scheme, attaining his CCT. Dr Sharma’s career has taken him through various NHS trusts across the UK, providing him with experience in diverse psychiatric subspecialties and helping him develop expertise in both neurotic and psychotic presentations. He now works in community psychiatry, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs.

In his clinical practice, Dr Sharma brings a comprehensive psychiatric approach, drawing on his extensive experience in assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health difficulties. All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.

Dr Sharma works with individuals experiencing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, personality disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, phobias, as well as ADHD, ASD, and OCD. He has specialist experience in treating complex psychiatric presentations in both inpatient and community settings.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Sharma is actively involved in teaching medical students at Brighton & Sussex Medical School, training psychiatrists, and participating in quality improvement and research projects that have been published. He is fluent in and can assess clients in English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Marathi, and Assamese, and he understands Gujarati and Punjabi.
