Dr Basma Abdalla

Counselling Psychologist

Dr Basma Abdalla first began her training with an MSc in Psychology at the University of Stirling, before completing a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University. Her career has taken her through a variety of settings including the NHS, schools, and third-sector services, supporting both children and adults with a wide range of mental health difficulties.

In the therapy room, Dr Abdalla brings an integrative and creative approach. She draws on training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Schema Therapy (ST) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and incorporates creative techniques such as art and object-based methods where appropriate. She adapts her approach to each client’s needs, creating a safe, containing, and supportive space for exploration and growth.

All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.

Dr Abdalla works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, emotion dysregulation, self-esteem difficulties, self-criticism, relational difficulties, ADHD and ASD, and trauma. Dr Abdalla is highly experienced in working with people who are suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as she has worked in several complex trauma specialist services, including working with veterans, and has a special interest in working with clients who have experienced childhood and relational trauma.
