Dr Chandi Gedara is a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years-experience working within specialist and national mental and physical health settings in the NHS working with children, young people and adults. Dr Chandi Gedara completed her BSc in Psychology at Goldsmiths University of London with first class honours. She then went on to complete an MSc in Psychological Therapies at Queen Mary University of London with a Distinction, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at University College London and was awarded her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at King’s College London. She is currently completing an MSc in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Bristol to qualify as a Clinical Neuropsychologist.
Dr Gedara has extensive experience working in a range of different NHS settings, including primary and secondary care mental health services, community settings and inpatient wards. She also has worked in national and specialist psychological settings for for sleep disorders, anxiety, trauma, Tourette’s syndrome, dementia assessments and adolescents at risk of anti-social behaviour and anger. She also has experience working in third sector and private settings.
Dr Gedara is experienced in working with people across all age groups, including with children, young adults, adults and older adults. Dr Gedara is experienced in evidence based psychological interventions such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Remediation Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Approaches. With these interventions, she has helped people experiencing a range of difficulties including neurological conditions, brain injuries, trauma, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, self-esteem, challenging behaviour, sleep related difficulties, emotional dysregulation, adjustment difficulties and health conditions. She adopts an integrative, collaborative and person-centred approach to help the people she works with reach their therapeutic goals.
Dr Chandi Gedara has extensive experience in providing specialist Educational and Neuropsychological Assessments to support people within academic, social, vocational and day-to-day activities. She also specialises in diagnostic assessments for Autism Spectrum Conditions and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
