Dr Elena De Giacomi is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council and British Psychological Society. She completed her MSc in Experimental Psychology at the University of Sussex and her doctoral training at City University, London. She has held posts as a Counselling Psychologist in the NHS, private healthcare and third sector organisations. She currently works part-time for a London NHS Trust in a psychology service that supports individuals experiencing complex mental health difficulties.
As an integrative practitioner, she draws on a broad range of therapeutic models to inform her work. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She adapts her approach according to her clients’ unique needs and preferences, whist also keeping in mind the evidence base for their presenting difficulties. She believes that establishing a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship plays a key role in facilitating recovery and growth.
Dr De Giacomi has experience of supporting clients with a wide range of mild to severe mental health difficulties as well as interpersonal difficulties and adjustment to major life changes. Her special interests include depression, trauma and psychosexual difficulties. She offers psychological therapy to adults, adolescents, and couples.
