Dr Emily Patel is a Clinical Psychologist with a broad range of experience offering mental health assessment and treatment within the NHS and in private practice. Dr Patel completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London (UCL).
Dr Patel specialises in offering short and longer-term psychodynamic psychotherapy within a schema informed framework, including Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy. This approach has a primary focus on an individual’s difficult feelings in relation to significant relationships, and identifying how relational patterns can be repeated. It is grounded in attachment theory.
She has extensive experience working with individuals affected by past and more recent trauma, stress/burnout, anxiety, depression, functional or somatoform disorders (such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and persistent physical pain), and who experience significant interpersonal and relationship difficulties. She particularly enjoys working with people who have already tried other psychological interventions who wish to try an exploratory approach that helps them to deepen their understanding of themselves and facilitate symptomatic relief.
