Dr Graham Pickup

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Dr Graham Pickup first began his training with a DClinPsy from University College London, followed by a PGDip in Cognitive Therapy (Distinction) from Oxford University. His path has taken him through roles in NHS outpatient, community, and inpatient services, working with adults of all ages, as well as academic positions.

In the therapy room, Dr Pickup brings an integrative, evidence-based approach, drawing on training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Psychodynamic Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). He tailors his approach to meet the individual needs of each client, integrating techniques to address emotional difficulties and interpersonal challenges.

They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.

Dr Pickup works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, panic disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), social anxiety, health anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), substance misuse, emotion dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties, psychosis, and bipolar disorder.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Pickup has experience in clinical supervision, training, and service management, reflecting his commitment to advancing psychological practice and understanding. He has a research doctorate (PhD) in psychology and has published a number of peer-reviewed research studies on cognitive models of psychosis and schizotypy.
