Dr Joanna Parry completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology at University College London (UCL). Dr Parry has completed high level training in psychometric testing, holding a Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CEET).
Dr Parry has experience working as an Educational and Child Psychologist in both local authority and private practice. Dr Parry has worked as an Educational and Child Psychologist in London, Derbyshire and Liverpool. She has previously worked in a multidisciplinary team supporting the needs of children who have social, emotional and mental health needs.
In her work, Dr Parry has experience working with individual students, classes and at whole school level. She has worked with a diverse range of children and young people aged 3-18 across a range of settings. She has worked with parents, carers and school staff across the early years, primary, secondary, and post-16 to collaboratively support the learning and development of children and young people. This includes providing training to schools on a range of issues including supporting students with social and emotional needs, specific literacy difficulties and dyslexia, specific learning needs, ADHD and ASD.
When working as an Educational and Child Psychologist, Dr Parry has a specialist interest in cognition, mediation and metacognition and brings knowledge and experience of evidenced-based interventions to support children, young people, schools and families, including: the use of cognitive and dynamic assessment, Precision Teaching, Mindfulness, Video Interaction Guidance (VIG), Resilience, Emotion Coaching and Cognitive Behavioural Approaches.
