Dr Louise Hood is a counselling psychologist with a range of experience in private practice as well as work within the NHS and community settings. She completed her BSc in psychology at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of East London.
Dr Hood provides evidence based psychological therapy and is able to integrate ideas from a variety of models to flexibly meet the needs of clients. These approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy (ST), Psychodynamic therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and mindfulness. Her professional interests include the treatment of trauma and so she is also trained to deliver Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an effective treatment for trauma presentations and related difficulties.
Dr Hood has experience of working with adults with common emotional concerns; relationship and interpersonal difficulties; as well as with those with more complex needs and presentations. She places importance on working collaboratively with clients, due to a belief that successful therapy occurs within a safe relational space.
