Dr Maria Michalitsi

Counselling Psychologist

Dr Maria Michalitsi first began her training with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at Panteion University of Athens, before going on to complete a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University. Her path has taken her through NHS and voluntary sector services, and she is currently a Senior Counselling Psychologist in a Central London NHS Foundation Trust, where she has supported clients across the lifespan.

In the therapy room, Dr Michalitsi brings a collaborative and flexible approach. She draws on training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness-Based Approaches, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and she is an accredited DBT therapist. She tailors her work to each person’s needs, placing strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and working within a client-centred framework.

All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.

Dr Michalitsi works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Emotional Dysregulation, PTSD, Self Esteem Difficulties, and Relationship difficulties. She has particular expertise in providing Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for the above issues.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Michalitsi has experience teaching and training NHS teams and offering supervision to other practitioners, reflecting her commitment to professional development and service improvement.
