Dr Maria Xenaki is a Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience in the field of adult mental health. Having earned her bachelors degree in psychology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), she completed her doctoral training in Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychology at the University of Surrey. Since 2008, Dr Xenaki has been working in various NHS adult mental health services and in private practice. Alongside her clinical work, she is involved in teaching and clinical supervision, and has worked as a Senior Teaching Fellow and Programme Director for postgraduate psychology programmes at the University of Surrey.
Dr Xenaki is trained in multiple evidence-based psychological therapeutic methods including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Behavioural Family Therapy, and third wave CBT approaches. She employs an integrative, collaborative, and bespoke approach to tailor psychological therapy to each individual client’s unique needs.
Dr Xenaki is highly experienced in supporting adult clients with a wide variety of life transitions and emotional difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, phobias, low-self-esteem, psychotic experiences, childhood trauma, perinatal mental health challenges, and relationship and interpersonal challenges.
