Dr Maria Xenaki

Counselling Psychologist

Dr Maria Xenaki first began her training with a BSc in Psychology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), before completing a Doctorate in Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychology at the University of Surrey. Her career has taken her through various NHS adult mental health services and private practice, supporting adults across a wide range of mental health difficulties. Alongside her clinical work, she is involved in teaching and clinical supervision, and has held roles as a Senior Teaching Fellow and Programme Director for postgraduate psychology programmes.

In the therapy room, Dr Xenaki brings an integrative and collaborative approach. She draws on training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Behavioural Family Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Approaches, Schema therapy (ST), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and third-wave CBT approaches, and adapts her approach to each client’s individual needs.

All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.

Dr Xenaki works with adults facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem difficulties, emotional dysregulation, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, perinatal mental health difficulties, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Dr Xenaki offers therapy online in both English and Greek, reflecting her commitment to accessibility and client choice.
