Dr Meherangiz Press is a Counselling psychologist working with adults in both the NHS and in private practice. Dr Press has a master’s in clinical psychology, and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from Regent’s University London.
Dr Press works with individuals with a wide range of difficulties, such as depression, low self-esteem, low mood, social anxiety, work-related stress, trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties. She is particularly passionate about working with people who are going through difficult life transitions, such as migration, bereavement or changes in relationship status. She likes to work with individuals struggling in their unique social, political and psychological context. She is interested in mind-body integration and in her NHS role, works in physical health psychology and leads her team in the area of chronic pain management.
Dr Press is trained in several specialist therapeutic modalities such as Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Sensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), as well as psychodynamic and existential approaches. Her passion lies in tailoring one or more of these approaches to the unique situation of her clients, in order to collaboratively explore relational and intra-psychic patterns that might potentially be limiting their lives.
Dr Press has also conducted research in the experience of grief in refugees and has been published in various journals and presented at conferences in the fields of psychology, public health and social justice. She has worked internationally with national and multi-national corporations such as Johnson and Johnson Pvt Ltd and JPMC in the areas of employee and organisational wellbeing.
