Dr Platanitis began his training with a BSc in Sociology at Panteion University of Athens, before completing an MSc in Counselling Psychology at the University of Sheffield, an MSc in Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University, and later a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of Manchester. His path has taken him through primary and secondary care NHS services, as well as drug rehabilitation settings, where he has supported young people, adults, and couples, shaping the way he now works with clients in private practice.
In the therapy room, Dr Platanitis brings an integrative and relational approach. He draws on training in Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy (ST), Schema Therapy for Couples, Psychodynamic Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Approaches, and Couples Therapy (trained at Tavistock Relationships). He aims to create a reflective, supportive space that helps clients understand their difficulties with clarity, feel grounded, and move towards meaningful, lasting change.
All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.
Dr Platanitis works with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety, health anxiety, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, anger, bereavement, emotional dysregulation, and relationship or interpersonal difficulties. He has specialist experience in relationship difficulties, trauma, and anxiety-related presentations, integrating evidence-based interventions to support deeper understanding and long-term change.
