Dr Patrick Nwagbogu

Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr Patrick Nwagbogu first began his training as a Medical Doctor, before specialising in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He completed his specialist training at Great Ormond Street Hospital, including time at the Centre for Interventional Paediatric Psychopharmacology, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. His path has taken him through roles in community child and adolescent mental health services, in-patient services, paediatric liaison, and national specialist services, as well as private practice, shaping the way he now works with clients.

In the therapy room, Dr Nwagbogu brings a specialist, neurodevelopmental and psychopharmacology-informed approach. He focuses on carefully assessing each young person’s needs, considering both psychological and medical aspects, and works collaboratively with families and other professionals to create a supportive, structured, and effective care plan.

All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.

Dr Nwagbogu works with children and adolescents experiencing a wide range of challenges, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning difficulties/disabilities, tic disorders, epilepsy, as well as mental health difficulties such as depression, anxiety, stress, behavioural difficulties, and complex neurodevelopmental presentations. He has specialist experience in neurodevelopmental disorders and the use of psychopharmacology in children and adolescents, helping families manage both the psychological and medical aspects of care.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Nwagbogu is a Diplomat of The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London in Forensic Medical Sciences (Dip.FMS), an approved clinician and Section 12 approved, and sits on the editorial board of BJPsych International, reflecting his ongoing commitment to research, education, and advancing practice in child and adolescent psychiatry.
