Dr Samuel Christmas obtained his undergraduate degree in Psychology at Durham University. After working as an assistant psychologist in a central London NHS trust, he completed his Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of East London. He currently works as a counselling psychologist in the public and private sectors.
Dr Christmas works with adults and older adults. He has experience with a broad range of common difficulties including low mood, depression, anxiety, stress, long-term health conditions, trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, personality difficulties, bereavement, relationship issues, low self-esteem, assertiveness difficulties, panic attacks and insomnia. Dr Christmas has a particular interest in helping with tinnitus management.
Dr Christmas offers a confidential and non-judgemental space in which to explore the difficulties that clients are facing currently and have faced in the past. He encourages a collaborative relationship in which clients can work together towards their goals for therapy. He believes in providing a friendly and supportive environment to help clients gain a greater understanding of their experiences, navigate obstacles, and to facilitate change.
Dr Christmas is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and integrative approaches including Compassion Focused Therapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy. However, he often integrates a combination of models as he believes each individual deserves a tailored approach based on their needs. Dr Christmas has experience working with a range of difficulties, having worked in a variety of services in the NHS. He continues to work in a public health setting with a range of mental health difficulties
