Dr Sara Morando is a Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry, with more than 10 years NHS experience. She has worked for 16 years across a variety of settings, including inpatient wards, community mental health teams, specialist eating disorder services, personality disorders services, and psychotherapy services, both in London and in Italy, where she trained as a doctor and then as a general adult psychiatrist. She is currently working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in an eating disorder service in London.
Dr Morando has a special interest in psychotherapy, eating disorders, complex trauma, personality disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and autism assessment and treatment. She is also experienced in treating depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, psychosis. She is trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT), MBT for families, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and she is an accredited MBT supervisor. She is completing a PhD in Mental Health Sciences at UCL on mentalisation and eating disorders.
Dr Morando is offering private MBT supervision to NHS personality disorders services, eating disorders services and to independent therapists and institutions, nationally and internationally. She has offered consultation, supervision and training to community and inpatient NHS services, facilitated reflective practice groups and Balint groups for trainees and consultant psychiatrists. She has lectured medical students, psychiatry, and GP trainees on psychotherapy and management of personality disorders and eating disorders. She has lectured in the MSc on eating disorders at UCL.
By combining her clinical expertise with her broad psychotherapeutic skills and her warm, reflective, non-judgmental and collaborative attitude, she offers an evidence-based, person-centred, integrated and creative approach to patient care.
