Dr Tessa Goldsmith

Clinical Psychologist

Dr Tessa Goldsmith (she/her) first began her training with a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. Her path has taken her through specialist psychosis services in the public health system and other clinical settings, supporting adults and young people, which has shaped the way she now works with clients.

In the therapy room, Dr Goldsmith brings a collaborative and experiential approach. She draws on training in Schema Therapy (ST), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-Based Approaches. Tessa is passionate about body-based emotional wellness and incorporates somatic and experiential techniques where appropriate.

All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.

She works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including Anxiety, OCD, Phobias, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Body Image, Self Esteem Difficulties, Relationship difficulties, Sexuality and Sexual Health, Personality Disorders, Identity, and has specialist experience in Trauma, Psychosis, and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (ADHD and ASD) assessment and support. She is particularly aligned with young adults and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Goldsmith has research and teaching expertise in trauma, forensic interviewing, sexual assault, and consent communication. She collaborates with Indigenous leaders in New Zealand to deliver culturally safe DBT for Māori youth and regularly presents internationally. She is also a certified yoga instructor, developing yoga-based interventions for emotional wellness.
