Dr Toby Greenall is a Consultant Psychiatrist working across the NHS and private sector. Dr Greenall began his medical training at the University of Leeds over 15 years ago and completed his psychiatry training in London. Dr Greenall is currently working in the NHS helping women experiencing severe mental health crises in a busy inpatient unit. Before this post, he has worked in various NHS Foundation Trusts related to general adult psychiatry, personality disorders and addiction and recovery.
Dr Greenall has special interests in women’s mental health, complex trauma, personality difficulties, recurrent depression and the impact of loss. He also has specialist skills in the treatment of addictions and experience of treating eating disorders. He has specialist interest in working with trauma and specific presentations that are underpinned by trauma response and how these impacts on overall wellbeing. As well as recommending medications to support treatment, Dr Greenall also has experience and interest in de-prescribing to reduce adverse effects of psychiatric medication.
Training with various leaders in their fields, Dr Greenall was able to gain experience in many different psychological treatments to inform his psychiatric practice and support patients being able to maximise their treatment benefit and guide them through their recovery. A a result, Dr Greenall has a depth of experience in treatment modalities including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for eating disorders and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Dr Greenall is passionate about personalised care and breaking down barriers for people to get the help they need. He has acted as clinical supervisor to foundation doctors and as an educator of trainee psychiatrists and medical students at the University of Lincoln, he works hard to instil this same sense of passion and hope in his students.
