Dr Victoria Brattan is a clinical psychologist who completed her professional doctorate at the University of Leeds. She began her psychology career in cognitive neuroscience, later deciding to retrain in clinical psychology. Dr Brattan has worked in both the NHS and in private practice, predominantly dividing her clinical time between neurorehabilitation and neurodevelopmental services.
Within the field of neurorehabilitation, Dr Brattan works closely with other disciplines (OTs, PTs and SLTs), providing guidance, consultation and individualised intervention following brain injury and for neurological conditions. Within neurodevelopmental services, Dr Brattan has experience in the assessment and diagnosis of ASD in both children and adults. She is fully trained in the use of specialist assessment tools including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) as well as the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R). Additionally, she has experience of providing post-diagnostic support and intervention for individuals, groups and families.
Dr Brattan is also more generally experienced in working with common mental health difficulties, including low self-confidence, self-worth and anxiety, as well as more enduring physical and mental health conditions. Dr Brattan draws upon various approaches to find the best fit for the individual, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-based approaches as well as Systemic Therapy for couples and family work.
