Ian Wootton first began his training with a BSc in Psychology from the University of Surrey, qualifying as a Consultant Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. His path has taken him through clinical roles in hospitals, prisons, private practice, and international settings (New Zealand), shaping the way he now works with clients.
In the therapy room, Ian brings an integrative and highly attuned approach, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Group Analytic Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (RO-DBT). He focuses on supporting individuals whose needs may have been previously unmet, including those who appear to be coping well outwardly but struggle internally, feel disconnected or isolated, or find it difficult to access help and contemplate new ways of thinking.
All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.
Ian works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, personality disorders, complex trauma, neurodivergence (including ASD), maladaptive perfectionism, and treatment-resistant mental health difficulties.
