Jenny is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with 10 years’ experience working with children, young people and adults struggling with mental health and emotional difficulties. Jenny obtained her professional qualification from Kings College London and has completed specialist post-qualification studies in child and adolescent mental health from the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.
Most of Jenny’s clinical experience involves working with individuals and families in mental health crises, she draws on different approaches to help people recover and to get where they want to be in their lives. Jenny is trained in and applies psychodynamic approaches, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills and systemic principles in my work with individuals and families. Jenny has experience working with a variety of difficulties and presentations, including neuro-diversity such as ADHD and ASD.
Jenny’s therapeutic style is warm and relational; Jenny takes the view that building a trusting therapeutic relationship is essential to therapy. Jenny works collaboratively with the young person and their family to figure out what help they need. When Jenny first meets a young person and their family, they think together about what has brought them to therapy, talk about some of their experiences and think together about their hopes for change.
