Dr Joanne Williams first began her training with a BA(Hons) in Psychology at Rhodes University, South Africa, before going on to complete a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) at the University of Zululand, South Africa. Her path has taken her through forensic services in both private and NHS settings in England, and community adult services in Guernsey, supporting adults with a wide range of mental health difficulties, which has shaped the way she now works with clients.
In the therapy room, Dr Williams brings a holistic and integrative approach. She draws on training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Systemic Therapy, EMDR, and Schema Therapy (ST), adapting what she does to fit the person in front of her. All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.
Dr Williams works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, eating disorders, personality disorders, psychosis, PTSD, trauma, relationship difficulties, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. Whatever someone is struggling with, Dr Williamsaims to offer support that recognises and respects their unique needs and experiences.
