Larisa Mansfield first began her training with a degree in Counselling at London Metropolitan University, graduating with an Upper Second Class Honours (2:1), before going on to complete further postgraduate qualifications including an MA, PGDip, and PGCert. Her path has taken her through psychotherapy, trauma counselling, and forensic counselling, where she has supported adults, families, and older adults (ages 18+), and into trauma therapy, neurodiversity, and relationship therapy, which has shaped the way she now works with clients.Â
In the therapy room, Ms Mansfield brings an integrative and deeply empathetic approach. She draws on training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gestalt Therapy, Integrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Trauma-Focused approaches, and a particular interest in trauma recovery, anxiety disorders, and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), but most importantly, she adapts what she does to fit the person in front of her.Â
Ms Mansfield believes that the therapeutic relationship is a very special and intimate one, fundamentally based on trust and safety. Because finding the right therapist is so important, she focuses on establishing a non-judgemental environment and free space in which her clients can truly be themselves while working through their challenges. Ultimately, her goal is to help people reach a deeper understanding of any experiences and difficulties that they find distressing or inhibiting.
All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.
Ms Mansfield works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, dissociative conditions, and relationship difficulties, and has specialist experience in Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). Whatever someone is struggling with, Ms Mansfield aims to offer support that recognises and respects their unique needs and experiences.Â
Alongside her therapy work, Ms Mansfield is also involved in teaching, clinical supervision, and research, reflecting her passion for advancing therapeutic practice and supporting the wider psychological community.Â
