Lauren Stock is a clinical psychologist who started her psychology training at Royal Holloway University of London, continuing her masters training at London Metropolitan University, and finally, at Roehampton University. Lauren has over 15 years experience working within the NHS with the majority of her experience in primary care. She has worked within nursing and medical teams in helping people to manage life limiting or acute physical health conditions (including diabetes, COPD). Lauren is also a qualified clinical supervisor and offers supervision to psychologists in training.
Lauren offers a hybrid approach combining Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) techniques and Schema Therapy. She is currently training for full accreditation in Schema Therapy. In this model, she feels it is important to take the time and space to work through issues across the life span. Sometimes this involves understanding how social, cultural, and financial circumstances have shaped people’s problems – housing crises, bankruptcy, family breakdown, isolation, social media pressure, and loss of direction. Lauren can work to help people understand patterns that reinforce problems, so that they can prioritise where to make changes first and arrive at practical techniques and coping strategies. Where it is helpful, she may also try to understand how these patterns emerge from earlier childhood experiences.
Lauren has been particularly focused on working with young adults who have experienced challenges and traumatic experiences early in life which have led to complex emotional needs. This includes single or complex trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, low self-esteem, shame, anxiety disorders, depression, body image issues and self harm.
