Maria Amorim is a Clinical Psychologist with experience working in adult mental health across secure services, community services, private practice, and higher education settings. Her work with diverse populations has shaped the way she now supports clients, combining clinical expertise with a culturally informed approach.
In the therapy room, Ms Amorim brings a flexible and collaborative approach, tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs. She draws on training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy (ST), Narrative Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. She is committed to working alongside clients to develop understanding, coping strategies, and lasting change.
All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering clients as a whole person rather than a single issue. They integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to each client.
Ms Amorim works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorders, eating disorders, emotional dysregulation, behaviour management difficulties, work-related stress and burnout, and relationship and interpersonal issues. She also has specialist experience supporting clients with ADHD, using evidence-based strategies and cognitive-behavioural and coaching techniques to empower individuals to manage symptoms and challenges in daily life.
She conducts assessments in English and Portuguese.
