Maria Antypa is a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of clinical experience in adult mental health in the UK. Maria completed her professional training as a Clinical Psychologist in Greece while also completing additional training in the UK including an MSc in Health Psychology. She has worked in many different settings in both Greece and the Uk including primary care, inpatient, community, specialist mental health and physical health services. Maria has also held posts as Head of Psychology Department and Lead Psychologist in private inpatient mental health hospitals and has extensive experience of working in private practice.
In her clinical practice, Maria uses an integrative approach, to better meet her clients’ needs. She is experienced in working with people from diverse backgrounds presenting with a range of difficulties such as work-related stress and burnout, depression, anxiety disorders, pain management, interpersonal difficulties, ADHD, autism, dementia, brain injury, trauma, psychosis, personality disorders and bipolar affective disorder.
Maria’s therapy skills comprise of evidence-based psychological modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness-based therapy.
Her research interests are on psychological interventions for work-related stress and burnout and mindfulness-based approaches. Maria has acted as a specialist placement supervisor for doctoral Counselling Psychology trainees and has experience in supervising psychologists and other mental health professionals.
Maria provides therapy both in English and Greek.
