Patrick Bates

Psychotherapist

Patrick Bates first began his training with Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at Middlesex University, graduating with 1st class honours, before going on to study Systemic Family Therapy at Institute in Family Therapy. Followed by Systemic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock and Portman Clinic. His path has taken him through the NHS, where he hascsupported children, adolescents and families, and into family and couples’ psychotherapy, which has shaped the way he now work with clients.

In the therapy room, Mr Bates brings a warm, safe and confidential approach. He draws on training in family and couples psychotherapy, emotionally focused couples therapy, parenting support and behavioural strategies, and a particular interest in family relationships and communication. He aims to provide a warm, safe and confidential space to talk about family life, individual experiences, or anything that might be causing pain or distress.

He works with individuals, couples, children and families facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, emotional distress, behavioural difficulties, relationship and communication difficulties, and grief and loss, and has specialist experience in family work, couples therapy, parenting support, and working with children and adolescents.

Alongside his therapy work, Mr Bates is also involved in the NHS as a Team Lead and Senior Family Therapist, reflecting his passion for helping people create lasting, meaningful change in their lives.
