Ruth completed her Undergraduate Degree in Psychology at Oxford Brookes University, continuing on to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Psychology, at City University of London, where she received a distinction. She has contributed to the NHS and various charities, before embarking on a professional doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City University of London. Ruth is accredited with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Ruth has experience in different settings including the NHS, low-cost and charitable sectors, as well as volunteering for online crisis networks. In these settings, she has experience working with a range of adult client groups and presentations including, anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, life-threatening terminal and chronic illness, and neurodiversity. In her most recent NHS post, she has worked with other complex and enduring difficulties such as personality disorders, complex trauma, mood disorders and psychosis.
Being rooted in the ethos of Counselling Psychology, Ruth takes a relational and humanistic stance to her work with others. She is focused on understanding the subjective individual experience and values our unique differences, recognising that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach. Ruth is trained in Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Schema Therapy. With training in multiple modalities, Ruth offers a holistic and integrative way of working, considering the needs of the person in front of her and tailoring the work together accordingly.
