Dr Ruth Harris-Skillman

Chartered Psychologist

Dr Ruth Harris-Skillman is accredited with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and the British Psychological Society (BPS). She first began her training with a BSc in Psychology at Oxford Brookes University, before going on to complete a PGCert in Counselling Psychologyand a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DCPsych) at City University of London. Her path has taken her through the NHS, low-cost and charitable sectors, and online crisis networks, where she has supported adults with a wide range of mental health difficulties, shaping the way she now works with clients.

In the therapy room, Dr Harris-Skillman brings an integrative, relational, and humanistic approach. She draws on training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and Schema Therapy (ST), but most importantly, she adapts what she does to fit the person in front of her. Dr Harris-Skillman is focused on understanding the subjective individual experience, offering a safe and collaborative space for clients to explore their challenges and work towards meaningful change.

All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.

Dr Harris-Skillman works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, OCD, trauma, relationship difficulties, self-esteem difficulties, adjustment to long-term or life-threatening health conditions, personality disorders, psychosis, ASD, and ADHD. Whatever someone is struggling with, Dr Harris-Skillman aims to offer support that recognises and respects their unique needs and experiences.
