Dr Susie Taplin holds a Master’s degree in Psychology (MSc) from the University of St Andrews and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) from University College London.
Dr Taplin has experience in diverse settings, including the NHS and third-sector charities, working across community teams as well as specialised healthcare services. She has supported people with a wide range of emotional needs across primary, secondary, and tertiary care. She is particularly keen to support individuals experiencing emotional and relational difficulties relating to anxiety, depression, personality disorders, early trauma, neurodiversity, and grief/loss.
Dr Taplin’s approach involves meeting people where they are at and working within a relational, trauma-informed framework. She places a strong emphasis on understanding people within their lived experiences, relationships, and broader social, cultural, and environmental factors.
Trained in a variety of psychological therapies, Dr Taplin incorporates approaches from models including Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy, trauma-focused therapies (tf-CBT, Narrative Exposure Therapy), Systemic, and Mentalisation-Based Therapy.
Her areas of special interest include collective and individual trauma, interpersonal relationships, neurodiversity, and the interplay between emotional distress and physical health.
