Tyler Clarke is a BACP registered Psychotherapist working in private practice and the NHS. He completed his training at the Glasgow Centre of Therapy and the University of Glasgow. Tyler has worked previously in community and psychiatric mental health settings with a focus on goal setting and realigning negative cognitions to promote change and growth. He has experience working with a range of presentations including stress, anxiety, depression, HIV/AIDS, PTSD, addiction, sexual abuse, and trauma. Tyler often works with the LGBTQ+ community, and can support individuals struggling with their gender identity and/or sexuality.
Tyler has previous training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, humanistic counselling and working from a psychodynamic and integrative standpoint. In practice, Tyler believes that transformation occurs through a trusting therapeutic alliance to encourage a collaborative space for both client and therapist. This approach allows the therapeutic setting to work with an individual’s unique aims and concerns for a more enriched life. Psychodynamic therapy allows us to investigate unconscious processes and bring them into consciousness for a better understanding of ourselves.
Before embarking on a career in psychology, Tyler was a professional opera singer, performing lead roles at major venues across Europe. Through his experiences on stage, he developed a unique understanding of stress management in high-pressure situations and the importance of a strong mental health foundation to handle life’s demands.
