Zoe Laxton first began her training with a BSc in Psychology at the University of Exeter, graduating with honours, before going on to qualify as a BACP registered psychotherapist with a specialism in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Her path has taken her through various mental health services, including working within Multi-Disciplinary Teams, where she has supported individuals struggling with a range of mental health challenges, and into a specialist Dialectical Behaviour Therapy service, which has shaped the way she now works with clients.
In the therapy room, Ms Laxton brings a flexible and integrative approach. She draws on training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic theory, and integrative psychotherapy, and a particular interest in emotion dysregulation and personality disorder, but most importantly, she adapts what she does to fit the person in front of her.
All clinicians at The Chelsea Psychology Clinic are trained to conduct comprehensive assessments, considering you as a whole person rather than a specific issue. They tailor treatment and integrate multiple therapeutic perspectives to create a plan that is both evidence-based and uniquely suited to you.
Ms Laxton works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, stress, interpersonal difficulties, trauma, emotion dysregulation, and personality disorder. Whatever someone is struggling with, Ms Laxton aims to offer support that recognises and respects their unique needs and experiences.
Alongside her therapy work, Ms Laxton is also involved in delivering workshops on working with emotion dysregulation and conducting Doctoral research on the phenomenon of abandonment in relation to Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, reflecting her passion for clinical developments in supporting those with complex mental health challenges.
