This really varies enormously depending on the presenting difficulties and it also depends on what people want to get out of seeing a psychologist. So if somebody wants some symptom relief, then we can see people for shorter amount of time, so something between… anything between 6 to 12 weeks. But some people are looking for something that is more ongoing and consistent. So with some people, we work for a year or two years. It really varies also on the severity of the difficulties and the chronicity of the difficulties that people present with, whether they’re coming with something that is a difficult moment in their life right now but on the whole they haven’t suffered from emotional difficulties previously or whether they’re coming with something that has been very chronic and therefore might require a more long term and intense therapeutic approach.
