If you have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, in all likelihood, you will need medication. Medication is the most effective way of managing bipolar disorder, and there’s a whole range of medication that one can try in order to address the symptoms of bipolar disorder. Psychological therapy alone is usually not effective for bipolar disorder. The most effective combination would be to find the right medication for you through a specialist assessment with a consultant psychiatrist and also then to have a course of cognitive behavioural therapy to help you learn ways of managing low periods and manic episode.
