Some of the signs that a child has ASD may be that they have difficulty with nonverbal communication. So they may struggle with making eye contact or with reading other people’s facial expressions or body language. They also may have a lack of interest in other children and might tend to play on their own. Sometimes, they like a particularly set routine and if there’s any sort of changes to this routine, it can cause a lot of distress. There’s often difficulties understanding other people’s emotions as well sometimes.
