When to See a Child Psychologist – Finding a Child Psychologist in London

Our child psychology services include helping children and young people who have difficulties with their emotional or behavioural wellbeing. This may involve individually tailored sessions with your child, or working with parents and carers, offering support and guidance to better understand your child’s mental health difficulties and ways in which you can help. In addition, our therapists can also provide school observations, home visits, or specialist cognitive assessments as part of a larger assessment process. Our Child Psychologists may draw on a range of therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy or Psychodynamic Therapy, whilst incorporating creativity in the therapeutic process.

The kinds of problems that Child Psychology can help with are shown below. We are all different, and our experiences of problems can be different too, so not everyone who has experienced these problems would describe them in the same way. We are specifically trained to support young people and children with a range of difficulties so the list below is not exhaustive.

  • Neurodevelopmental Disorders (offering support around behaviour, emotional regulation, feeding and toileting)
  • Stress & Anxiety
  • Concentration difficulties
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Depression
  • Behavioural difficulties
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Panic disorder
  • Conduct disorder
  • Generalised anxiety disorder
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Family & relationships
