Cognitive behavioural therapy helps people both challenge the negative thoughts that might make them anxious in certain situations, but also begin to reduce the safety behaviours that they engage in as a way of avoiding situations that they find anxiety provoking. So we tackle things both on the level of changing behaviours as well as changing thoughts.
